Founded in 2004, Cape Ann Brewing Company is an award-winning, family owned microbrewery in the heart of the historic seaport in downtown Gloucestor, Massachusettes. Head brewer and co-founder Jeremy Goldberg began his journey into professional brewing as a home-brewer and broker on Wall Street. After September 11, 2001, Goldberg was looking for a change and embarked upon a 38 brewery and 40 day micro-brewery cross-country tour to film the documentary, American Beer. Upon his return, Goldberg knew the brewing industry was in his future, and six months later, along with his father and his brother-in-law, had begun preparation for the opening of Cape Ann Brewing Company. In May of 2004, Cape Ann released its inaugural offering of Fisherman’s Brew. The bold flavors and characters of the Fisherman’s line of beers reflect the spirit and courage of the sailors of the North Atlantic fishing fleet, and it is the same passion that has made Cape Ann the microbrewery it is today. In addition to its fine micro brews, Cape Ann also known for supporting the Northeast Seafood Coalition, a non-profit dedicated to protecting fishery resources and aiding local fisherman.

clams or squid)
8 Tbs. self-rising flour
2 Tbs. olive oil
Half a bottle of beer
1/2 tsp. salt
Oil for frying
kosher salt - Mix the flour, oil, salt and beer together in a bowl. Add the beer slowly, stirring the entire time (you want enough beer to make the batter the consistency of pancake batter). Refridgerate the batter for 20 min. Salt the fish liberally and then slice into pieces the size of a large shrimp. Heat the oil to 350 degrees in a pot or deep fryer. When the oil is hot, dredge the fish into the batter and allow it get completely coated. Gently place it in the oil and repeat. Do this in several batches. Fry until fish is golden brown (about 5-8 min.). Allow fish to drain on wire rack. Serve at once with sauce (tartar, cocktail, ketchup, etc.) and an ice cold beer.
